Russia has lifted its ban on meat imports from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Michigan completely. They have also moved Illinois from a ban on all meat to a ban on live pigs and uncooked pork. This is great news. Currently, the only state with a complete ban on all meat is Wisconsin. The states with a ban on live pigs and uncooked pork are Illinois, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Utah. Russia also softened bans on Canadian product.
The good news is Russia is starting to see reason and lift some of its bans on US pork. The bad news is yesterday afternoon China unofficially banned all chicken imports from the US. We would say the China news is a bigger deal. The lower prices expected today will be moderated by the Russia information though.
