The National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) released their crush report for January 2008. Their members reported crushing 152.439 million bushels last month. Pre-report estimates were for crush to be 154.6 million. This is 3.5 million bushels less than crushed in December, but 3.5 million bushels more than crushed a year ago.
Bean oil stocks reported by NOPA members were 2.818 billion pounds. This is more than reported last month and also more than what was on hand a year ago, so may be viewed a little bearish by the trade. Oil production for the month was 1.763 billion pounds, this is down from December’s 1.796 billion pounds, but over year ago oil production of 1.981 billion pounds.
Another interesting fact from this month's NOPA report shows that member firms exported 745,154 tons of meal in January. This is well above the 678,952 tons exported in December and considerably more than the 563,744 tons exported in January 2007.
