Another report released by the USDA on Friday January 11, 2008 was the Quarterly Stocks report as of December 1st. Corn stocks stored in all positions totaled 10.3 billion bushels, up 15 percent from a year ago. The first quarter of the 2007/08 marketing year showed record usage of 4.11 billion bushels. This compares with 3.57 billion bushel usage during the same period last year.
At total of 2.33 billion bushels of soybeans were stored in all positions on December 1, 2007. This is down 14 percent from a year ago. Soybean disappearance for the September through November time frame totaled 830 million bushels. That is down 11 percent from a year ago.
Wheat stocks stored in all positions totaled 1.13 billion bushels as of December 1st. From a year ago it shows a reduction of 14 percent. Wheat disappearance for this quarter is shown as 589 million bushels, up 35 percent from where it was a year ago.
