2017 Yield Survey

Allendale, Inc. Survey: Strong Survey Participation Reports Fewer Soybeans Than Expected, Corn Yield Variability Lowers Production

CHICAGO, IL. (September 1, 2017) – Allendale, Inc. a Chicago area agricultural commodity brokerage and analysis firm suggests a projected US corn crop of 13.920 billion bushels and a soybean crop of 4.179 billion bushels.

On a state-by-state basis, our survey indicated high variability in yields based on the region of each state. Of note, average corn yield in south-central Iowa works out to only 94 BPA. Last year, our survey indicated a yield of 185 BPA in that same region.

These estimates were based on producer calculated yields in 32 states. Ample surveys gave us the numbers needed to project yields in the top 12 states. This covers 86% of corn production and 83% of soybean production. It was conducted from August 16-30. Please see the tables below:
